Transcutaneous oxygen monitoring of patients undergoing nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation
The objective of this study was to assess the changes in transcutaneous oxygen tension in pediatric patients undergoing nitrous oxide-oxygen analgesia. A total of 19 healthy patients, ranging in age from 3 to 19 years with a mean age of 9.8 years, were included. Transcutaneous oxygen monitoring was performed; following stabilization, baseline readings were obtained. Oxygen was delivered at 3 I/...
متن کاملTranscutaneous oxygen monitoring during fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
A transcutaneous oxygen sensor was used to detect the development of hypoxemia in patients undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Measurements of transcutaneous PO2 (tcPO2) correlated well with arterial PO2 (PaO2), and correctly detected all instances when PaO2 was less than 65 mm Hg. The sensor was noninvasive and caused no adverse effects.
متن کاملTranscutaneous oxygen monitoring in an infant undergoing tracheoesophageal fistula repair.
A case report is presented describing the clinical usefulness of transcutaneous oxygen (PtcO2) monitoring in an infant undergoing tracheoesophageal fistula repair. Its use allowed early and precise recognition of hypoxaemia during periods of surgical manipulation. During periods of hypoxaemia, there were no associated cardiovascular changes or changes in routine monitoring modalities. Clinical ...
متن کاملTranscutaneous oxygen and carbon dioxide monitoring in intensive care.
Transcutaneous oxygen (TcPo2) and carbon dioxide (TcPco2) tensions were compared with arterial values in 23 children aged 4 months to 14 years, all requiring some form of respiratory support, but not in shock. Electrodes were placed on the upper chest and were heated to 45 degrees C. For TcPo2 and arterial oxygen (Pao2) a tight linear correlation over the range 6 to 14 kPa was found. Arterial c...
